I am such a morning person. I love waking up at 7 o’clock and feeling like I have a whole day ahead of me, I have always been that way. However, with the current circumstances, I am finding it hard to wake up and maintain productivity throughout the day. Over the past few weeks, I have noticed that the way I start the morning really determines how the rest of the day turns out for me. So in this post, I wanted to share some of the best things I do in the morning to ensure my day is a productive one.
I know so many people who love to read at night and I do too, but starting my day with reading a couple of pages or a chapter really ensures that I get into that productive spirit. Whether it is fiction or non-fiction, by reading, I feel like I am waking myself up properly and doing something productive. Although reading is a leisurely thing for most of us at the minute, there is just something more productive about it than watching Netflix, don’t you think?
My best ideas either come first thing in the morning or right before I fall asleep so my creative juices are at their best as soon as I wake up. So, in the morning, I love to sketch and doodle. If I was studying for my A-levels, then this would be the worst kind of procrastination. But because I haven’t got much of a timeline right now, I actually find that drawing is a really good way for me to start the day. It relaxes me, but it also makes me want to do something with my day, whether that be more on the creative side or the academic side.
Plan the day
There is nothing better than starting the day by writing a to-do list, I think. Setting out what you need to achieve on that day is perfect motivation and a great way to organise your time. I would be lying if I said that I did this every day, but every other day, I try to make a list of the things that I want to do that day or across the week. These could be small things like reading my book, posting on Instagram or baking, but there is something so satisfying about ticking off a to-do list that just makes me so much more motivated.
I am so lazy when it comes to looking after myself, but that is something I am trying to work on. Getting up, putting on an outfit that makes me feel good and looking after myself properly is the perfect way to start the day. It doesn’t even mean putting on a full face of makeup, but if that makes you feel good, then go for it. Personally, I love to wear an outfit that is comfortable, do my skincare properly and just looking after myself generally. This could mean having a good breakfast, shaving your legs or even clearing your desk as you are setting yourself up to have a productive day.
Something I need to start doing more, but exercise is such a great motivator. Whether you are spending your hour-a-day of exercise outside of a morning, walking your dogs or going on a run or even just doing a quick 10-minute home workout, it paves your way to be productive. I definitely plan to start working out some more, getting some me-time in and I think that it is going to make a really big difference to the way I feel and also my productivity.
