This red mini skirt has been in my wardrobe for quite some time and it just doesn’t get the love it deserves. I couldn’t tell you why I bought it or how I planned on styling it., which isn’t good. However, I recently pulled it back out and wanted to share with you five different ways to style this red denim mini skirt.
Hopefully, you will see from this post just how versatile this piece is. Even though it is bright and a pop of colour, there are so many things you can do with it. So I encourage you to pick something out of your wardrobe and try to find something new you could style with it.
All of these looks I’m sharing this post are going to be more spring/summer-appropriate, however, this skirt could also be worn with tights and a chunky knit in winter. Especially with it being bright red, it isn’t seasonal and so it can be worn all year round.
The thin knit
I love lightweight knit pieces. They are the perfect spring top, it keeps you cool but still covers a bit of skin. It is also a great layer piece, especially with a cute bralette underneath. The one in this shot is more of a sweatshirt style but even a lightweight cardigan would be so super cute with this skirt. I also went for a grey shade as I think it balances the red out nicely, returning to more wearable shades.
The white blouse
Such an easy way to make a denim skirt look a little more classy and sophisticated. Plus, you can’t go wrong with a white blouse. It looks so clean and crisp. I love this one because it is a short sleeve, so perfect for this time of year and all of the ruffles on it just gives it that feminine touch. The slight crop also makes it super flattering with this skirt as it is high waisted and meets in the middle quite nicely.
The slogan tee
Such a classic and one that just can’t go wrong. A slogan t-shirt. I love this one mainly because the red writing ties in so perfectly to the red mini skirt. And just imagine this with a red lip. Ultimate girl boss vibes, if you ask me. Either way, a t-shirt is just a perfect way to dress down a skirt. This and a pair of trainers, the perfect, simple spring look.
A little more out of my comfort zone, but perfect for a heatwave. I also love pairing red with navy for ultimate sailor vibes. But it is such a cute combo. This top is actually a little upcycle of mine, but I think the crop with elastic just gives it that bit more shape, plus it’s super on trend right now.
Ending on a formal note, but who doesn’t love a blazer? For me a check blazer is the way forward, so stylish and it has that vintage edge. Plus that black and white print paired with a pop of colour, is just so dreamy. This would be so fab with a pair of black pumps for work and it just goes to show how you can dress up a denim skirt.
Let me know in the comments what you make of this styling post as I really loved writing and shooting it. Also, let me know which outfit is your favourite, mine would be the slogan tee, you just can’t go wrong.
