I’m excited for autumn.. okay, I said it. And I know I’m not the only one who is so ready for thick coats, chunky jumpers and black boots. So I thought I’d start to bring the transitional blog posts out. I think a lot of people struggle styling for this transition between summer to autumn, but I love it. It’s the perfect way to try out some new layers, get some last bits of wear out of your summer clothes and switch the bikinis for big coats. So in this post, I’ve got seven easy outfit ideas for this summer to autumn transition.
COSY ON TOP
Perhaps starting with my favourite outfit idea. This short and jumper combo is a new favourite and so perfect for this transitional time. I can see this paired with some chunky boots and a big coat for a colder day, or a pair of trainers and sunglasses for a warmer one. The colour tones in this outfit are also so perfect. That oatmeal colour, I think is so perfect all year round and paired with these monochromatic shorts, just gives it such a sophisticated look.
CYCLING SHORT STYLING
I love cycling shorts all year round. They are comfy and with a big t-shirt you an’t go wrong. However, with the weather getting colder, it is always safer to add an extra layer. So that’s why I’ve added the denim jacket. I think the black denim mixed with the khaki tones in the top and shorts is the perfect colour combo for this summer to autumn transition. Not only is it super clean looking, but I just think that this is a really flattering outfit. Once again with a pair of chunky boots and a little bag, this is such a great easy-to-wear outfit.
CROPPED & COMFY
Perhaps a little crop like this isn’t the most practical for the weather, as it gets a little colder, but I love this combo. A cute crop with a pair of oversized joggers.. such a vibe. These joggers in particular are fleece-lined so are perfect for the colder weather and I just think that the crop breaks it up a bit. The pop of colour is also so fun for styling and I think orange is going to be a big colour for the autumn season, as always. I think this with an oversized bomber, some white trainers and jewellery, is such a look for that effortless street style vibe.
LITTLE NEUTRAL LAYERS
I love this little combo. The check dress on it’s own is always one of my favourites for summer, but for this summer to autumn transition, it’s still so easy to wear. Adding a little layer under and boom, a new little outfit. I love the rust coloured tee with this black and white check. It’s just so easy and effortless. I think this could look so great with some sock boots and a big puffer jacket to make it super casual and cosy.
I love layers, you can take them off when you’re hot and put them on when you’re cold. It’s the best way to style clothes for this in-between stage from summer to autumn. In this case, I’ve gone all black and white. Perfect for all year round and always looks so fresh. This white bodysuit and leather jogger combo is always a favourite of mine. It’s so easy to wear and can be dressed up or down, not to mention, it’s also so comfy. But I’ve paired it with this white check shirt and I’ve shown two ways to wear it above. However, you could do so much with this shirt. It’s a great way to add an extra layer whilst still looking stylish. I think this with some pumps and an oversized bag would look so cute.
ONE PIECE OUTFIT
So super easy, but a short sleeve jumpsuit… vibes. They are so easy to wear because it is an outfit all in one, and you can dress it for casual or sophisticated. I love this one because it is short sleeve. You can pair it with a roll neck underneath for an extra layer or keep it as it is, with an easy pair of flats. The navy colour is also so perfect for all year round, it goes with anything and is always a nice alternative from black. This is definitely my essential pieces for this summer to autumn transition.
OVERSIZED & FEMININE
I love this outfit and I know I’m going to be wearing it loads over the next few months. So super easy, but an oversized sweatshirt and mini skater skirt, cute right? I won’t lie, my time on Tiktok has definitely inspired this one, but I love it so much. The floral skirt especially is perfect for summer but now for autumn too because of this styling. We all know I love an oversized sweatshirt but this is a new outfit for me. It mixes comfy and oversized with this cute and feminine style, which I love. Paired with trainers and a little shoulder bag, I think this could be so cute.
Ending on a super basic note, but one I still think is worth mentioning. I love a good mini dress and this one is a nice in-between of a mini and midi. Not too long, not too short, which is perfect for this time of year. But I’ve tried to keep this outfit very pale and neutral in tones, with the little details of black to break it up. This bomber jacket is a super pale nude shade and I think it is great with this dress It’s adding that layer whilst still keeping the colour palette very light and fresh. You could do so much with this outfit, add a pair of knee high boots, tights even, or sunglass and flats, depending on the weather of course.
I really hope you loved this post. It was super fun for me to write and I think I’m going to do more of these throughout the seasons, so if you have any requests, please comment them!
Lots of love,
